HOUSE AND SENATE NARROWLY APPROVE BUDGET THAT ALLOWS ARCTIC DRILLING

Last night (4/28/05) the Senate and House approved the 2006 budget
resolution by the narrowest of margins, 52-47 in the Senate, and 214-211
in
the House. Among many other controversial provisions, the budget
resolution
opens the door for legislation to allow drilling in America's Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge. While a setback, this fight is far from over,
and
there are many further opportunities to stop the provision from ever
becoming law.
