No Need For "Clear Skies"
Statement by Nat Mund, Senior Washington Representative, Sierra Club
"Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its analysis of
the Bush administration's so-called 'Clear Skies' Initiative. Their
analysis confirmed the obvious - that the administration's proposal would
not improve air quality any better than protections currently in place and
would actually weaken key provisions of the Clean Air Act.
"All Americans need clean, healthy air to breathe and laws that will
protect them from air pollution. The EPA's analysis confirms that 'Clear
Skies' does not move in that direction."
