CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE The Executive Committee (ExCom) of the Iowa Chapter of Sierra Club is looking for members to accept nomination for election to the ExCom of 2006. The Executive Committee is made up of eleven members and is elected by the chapter membership in December. Members elected begin their term at the first meeting in January and serve a three-year term. The ExCom meets about six times a year for a half-day at locations throughout the state. Offices of chair, vice-chair, secretary, treasurer, and committee chairs are selected from the ExCom. Committee work such as political activity and personnel help to carry out the functions of the ExCom and the chapter. If you are interested in helping make decisions about the priorities, activities and political endorsements of the Sierra Club in Iowa, and you have the time, please nominate yourself. Candidate statements will be in the December newsletter on the ballot and should consist of a statement of 100-150 words or less. Understand and promote the mission of the Sierra Club . Attend Executive Committee meetings and General meetings . Participate in long range planning . Lead and provide educational training and/or conservation opportunities to the general membership . Promote the Outings Program . Actively assist in fundraising activities or contribute financially . Ensure financial stability and solvency . Modify and allocate resources; must be consistent with the opportunities, the abilities, and the commitment of the chapter/group . Monitor, question, and evaluate club activities . Provide Leadership and Vision within the chapter/group .
