In a copyrighted story, AP writer Eric Tucker reported today that a Providence R.I. jury has ruled that three companies which formerly manufactured lead paint created a public nuisance that continues to poison children.

The companies, which could be liable for millions of dollars in damages, were Sherwin-Williams Co., NL Industries Inc. and Millennium Holdings.

According to this article, "a spokeswoman for the companies, former Iowa Attorney General Bonnie Campbell, issued a statement saying there were still issues to be decided and the companies wouldn't comment until later."

Campbell was also the Democratic candidate for Iowa governor, in
1994, losing that race to the incumbent, Terry Branstad.
