CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE Subcommittee of the Organizational Effectiveness Governance Committee (MEC) is soliciting nominations to fill four (4) vacancies. Please forward this message to individuals and groups who might be interested. COMPLETED RESPONSES ARE DUE July 24, 2006. Those appointed will serve terms of two years, up to a maximum of six years. They will participate in conference calls and communicate regularly by e-mail and occasional face-to-face meetings. Background The Membership Engagement Committee was formerly known as the Membership Stewardship Committee. The new name is descriptive of the committee's mission, to work with the Club's executive committees to increase the number of engaged members. The committee is presently focused on two strategies to accomplish its mission: 1. Work with executive committees around the country to apply strategies that will engage membership. 2. Work with and develop membership chairs to become a highly educated resource on membership engagement activities. Activities of the committee include but are not limited to: Participating in committee conference calls approximately once a month. Periodically interacting with Excom chairs and Excom membership chairs to understand their needs and desires for increased membership engagement. Our function is not to tell any Excom what to do but to be a resource for their use. Working with Excoms to develop specific activities that engages members. Hosting conference calls with membership chairs to help group problem solve, share successful stories, and to aquatint membership chairs with basic skills and database use. Supporting staff membership activities such as national training sessions. Observing relevant national committees that are working on similar issues or could use help with a membership engagement component in an activity. Occasionally traveling for committee meetings and facilitating Excom planning sessions. Desired Skills and Experience These positions require individuals who are comfortable working with groups while always showing respect for individuals. Extensive Club experience is not required but individuals should be receptive to learning about the many nuances of club administration. Creativity is a quality that will serve you well as a committee member. Committee members must be receptive to learning or refreshing good communication and discussion skills.
