Dr. Flora is an internationally known scholar and consultant. She will explain the various forms of capital present in the Raccoon Watershed and its communities. She will explain how these forms of capital, including "Natural Capital" can be used to the long term benefit of the Raccoon Valley populace. This presentation is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. Lunch will be available after her presentation at the Hotel Patee for $15. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Agriculture and Sociology at Iowa State University and Director of the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development, located at Iowa State University. She is author and editor of Interactions Between Agroecosystems and Rural Communities, Rural Communities: Legacy and Change, Rural Policies for the 1990s, and Sustainable Agriculture in Temperate Zones. She was recently named by the Secretary of Agriculture to the National Agricultural Research, Education and Economics Advisory Board.
