Paddle-fest in Adel

(On the North Raccoon River, north side of Adel)


o     9:00 a.m. displays in the east pavilion by:
o     The North Raccoon Watershed Association
o     Iowa Rivers Revival
o     Whitewater Coalition
o     The Canoe Trails Program
o     Central Iowa Paddlers
o     9:00 a.m. safety clinic -Canoe Sport Outfitters
o     9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. demonstration paddling with high-tech new boats 
and gear by Canoe Sport Outfitters
o     9:00 a.m. Canoe and Kayak show: Adam Brooks' 2552 mile Mississippi 
River expedition kayak, cedar strip kayak and canoes, Grumman sailing canoe, 
plywood Chesapeake kayak,- all entries welcome (like a car show!)
o     9:00 a.m. canoe, kayak, paddling gear swap meet (no fees, all used 
paddling equipment welcome)
o     9:30 a.m. water quality testing demonstration -Steve Witmer
o     10:00 a.m. slalom competition,
o     10:30 a.m. kayak sprints
o     10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Adel's famous BRICK STREET BBQ
o     11:00 a.m. safety clinic by Canoe Sport Outfitters
o     11:00 a.m. one quarter mile kayak race
o     11:30 a.m. one quarter mile canoe race
o     11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. live music in the round pavilion
o     12:01 p.m. distance competition ends.
o     12:05 p.m. Nate Hoogeveen, author of Paddling Iowa introduced
o     12:15 p.m. Adam Brooks, Mississippi paddler introduced
o     12:30 p.m. competition awards will be presented
