Call for Nominations ? Gulf Coast Environmental Restoration Project Task Force The Environmental Quality Strategy Team (EQST) seeks to appoint 2 new members ? one from Louisiana and one from Mississippi - to the Sierra Club?s Gulf Coast Environmental Restoration Project Task Force. If you would like to nominate yourself for appointment please complete and return the application below by November 1. The Gulf Coast Environmental Restoration Project Task Force focuses on recovery and rebuilding on the Gulf Coast of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi , and Alabama in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Task Force administers funds donated to the Sierra Club Foundation for this work. Task Force actions and educational efforts take place in five arenas: Rebuilding greener, Protecting people from natural disasters, Protecting people from toxic chemicals, Environmental justice, and Global warming. This Task Force serves as a resource to chapters and groups along the Gulf Coast . Candidates for the Gulf Coast Environmental Restoration Project Task Force should live in hurricane-affected areas of Louisiana or Mississippi , have at least general knowledge of one of the issue arenas listed above, and the motivation to work on resolving them. Specialized expertise is welcome as is familiarity with Sierra Club policies and processes at the national level. Candidates should have good management and social skills, as well as political and strategic judgment. Nominees must be current Sierra Club members residing in the United States . Sierra Club of Canada (SCC) members are not eligible to apply to this announcement. Ability and willingness to use electronic mail and to participate in conference calls (generally in the evening) are required as well as the ability to travel occasionally to meetings in the Gulf Coast area. Candidates need to consider their ability to contribute time and effort to Task Force participation in addition to ongoing commitments.
