Northrop was sentenced in March 2005 to one year in prison for stealing historic documents from the University of Arizona and the Arizona Historical Society. The Special Collections Librarian at the University of Arizona has assured us that Muir books were not among those stolen from the Arizona collection. We have no further information, however, regarding how the purported Muir books got into the hands of Northrop - or, if the author of the emails is indeed, the same Paul Northrop who was recently convicted. By this message, we are alerting you to Northrop's background and recommend that you not respond to his inquiry or any further inquiries from him. The John Muir Center at the University of the Pacific also has been notified by the Club of this inquiry to our chapter. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To view the Sierra Club List Terms & Conditions, see: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/terms.asp - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To get off the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask]
