Stone Path VI and its investors have plans to build a 2400 head
hog confinement within 1 mile south of
1) Regulations/laws need to be made to keep CAFO's from
being built within 2 miles or more from any community/village regardless of zoning.
2) Why should the quality of life of more
that 100 citizens be compromised for another investment for a few
individuals/investors?
3) Why should the values of 35-40 homes
decrease in value by 10-20% for an investment?
4) Why would we risk further polluting Storm
Creek, a tributary of the
5) Why should the health of individuals who
already have respiratory problems be compromised for the sake of another
dollar?
The investors met with us and tried to tell us it won’t
stink. They were not aware of the health risks involved for the community and
we informed them about various studies and recommendations especially down wind
from a facility. They said they will not accept responsibility for our health
issues that may arise or worsen. They also tried to compare hogs to humans.
Now how can anyone do that? Our county supervisors asked them to consider
another site, this is a community with a lot of good people.
