Sierra Club Annual Celebration Sunday, October 15 Crown Point in Johnston Have you ever considered making a 2000-mile hike? There is still time to make a reservation to hear our special guest speaker, Dave Readinger, who did just that--he hiked the entire distance of the Appalachian trail. Beginning in Georgia in March of 2004, he hiked most of the trail that year, and completed the last miles of the 2,174-mile Georgia-to-Maine hike in the summer of 2006. Dave, a former state legislator, was given the name "Grizzly Dave" by fellow hikers (it was easier not to shave.) His PowerPoint presentation will allow him to share with us memories of the hike, the scenery and people along the trail. To make a reservation, call Jane Clark at 515-223-5047 or e-mail Jo Hudson at [log in to unmask] , preferably by Friday, no later than Saturday.
