Jane and others attending the Sustainable Funding Meeting tonight, Nov 9. Looking through the 2 page report on sustainable funding, I noticed a couple of things. Why is there no mention of the state's Comprehensive Wildlife Management Plan, now called the Iowa Wildlife Action Plan and recently approved by the Department of the Interior? Prairie Priority. Given the pressures on Iowa's most endangered ecosystem, the prairie, why isn't this given priority status? Staffing: In addition to acquisition and preservation, the natural resources deserve some stewardship. Jobs for young Iowans are right there in the field. The ICN sites are listed below. The state needs to increase funding for natural resources for numerous reasons including: invasive species control on state owned land, more staff to care for natural resources, more natural inventories of plants and animals (herps), funding to continue to improve conservation practices in watersheds, and so much more. Go and provide input on what Iowan's want to see the DNR doing and help get the funding that our natural resource staff need to protect Iowa. > > Below are UPDATED addresses of the ICN site locations for the 11/09/06 > Sustainable Funding public input/comment session.
