Please help to make sure that Iowa’s natural resources and environmental
control do not slip through the cracks in the wake of big business
interests.

DNR Director Jeff Vonk has worked hard during his 6 years in office to
change the culture of the DNR to make it more responsive to the people, take
more (and bigger) steps towards addressing the huge water pollution problems
in Iowa, improve our state parks and wildlife management areas, and
generally, to turn around the DNR and save the agency from the years and
years of backsliding into oblivion.

There is much work still to be done.

All Department heads are required to submit their resignations after every
election for Governor. Then it’s up to Governor Culver to decide whether to
accept those resignations or not. There is concern that Jeff Vonk may not
be retained, that certain lobby groups are working hard to make sure that
the DNR does not continue to advance under Jeff Vonk’s leadership.

Please consider contacting the Governor’s office via telephone at (515)
725-2000 or email at HYPERLINK "mailto:[log in to unmask]"[log in to unmask]
or HYPERLINK "mailto:[log in to unmask]"[log in to unmask]
and voice your support that Jeff Vonk should continue the cultural change of
the Iowa DNR.

Thanks,

Donna
