RENEWABLE ENERGY WORKSHOPS FOR FARMERS: LEARN ABOUT WIND, BIODIESEL AND CLIMATE CHANGE Farmers and rural residents are invited to attend an informational workshop on renewable energy and climate change on FRIDAY, MARCH 16 at the Cherokee Community Center, 530 W Bluff St.,, Cherokee, IA. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. NOTE: This workshop is rescheduled from March 3. Gregg Heide, an Iowa Farmers Union board member and energy lobbyist from Pomeroy who is building his own wind project, will discuss the entire process of putting up your own wind turbine and selling energy back to the utility company. Dr. Elwynn Taylor, ISU meteorologist, will speak on global climate change from the perspective of changes in the past 50 years. Farmers can learn how climate change may affect their farming operation in the near future. After lunch (provided), Steve Fugate of Flying F Biofuels near Iowa City will give participants information they need to begin brewing their own diesel fuel at home.
