: Sierra Midwest Global Warming-Energy Regional Conference I am pleased to announce the second Annual Midwest New Energy Future Regional Conference, which will be held May 19th and 20th at the Radisson Airport Hotel in Indianapolis, IN Please encourage energy and global warming activists from your chapter to join us for two days of exploring how we can get to clean energy solutions for the Midwest, while opposing energy projects that exacerbate global warming. We will cover food and lodging expenses for three delegates from each Midwest Chapter. Also we will be able to reimburse mileage, or up to $180 in airfare cost per delegate. (We encourage delegates to drive to Indianapolis because that has a smaller carbon impact than air travel). Topics will include - The New Coal Rush – the Midwest’s unique burden in the global warming struggle. Why we must battle the rush to build 47 new coal burning power plants in the Midwest, and our resources for succeeding. - Global Warming : Where we are, where we need to be and how we will get there: Dave Hamilton, Sierra Club’s national energy team leader, will present recent developments on this topic - Is there such a thing as “clean coal”? - Tilting at Windmills: How we can talk effectively about Clean Energy, Clean Jobs, and Global Warming, and - Tools and building blocks for real action on Global Warming and the New Coal Rush We request a $15 registration from each delegate. We will start the Saturday session about 8:30 AM, and expect most participants will plan to arrive Friday night. Please let us know who from your Chapter will attend as soon as possible. (An email stating "intent to register" containing delegate's address, phone, email & Chapter position will do. Please send to: [log in to unmask], [log in to unmask], and [log in to unmask] ).
