Request for Applications - America's Wild Legacy The Conservation Governance Committee (CGC) seeks to appoint three additional members to the America's Wild Legacy Conservation Initiative Committee (AWL). If you would like to nominate yourself for appointment please complete and return the application below by March 30, 2007. AWL works to create an overarching conservation initiative for the Sierra Club that focuses on three areas of national concern: protect wild and special places, protect wildlife and wildlife habitat, and stop destructive energy development on public lands. In the course of its work, AWL funds projects and establishes project teams to implement conservation efforts within the Sierra Club that advance its campaign framework and are national in scope or have national significance. This committee coordinates with the Wild Planet Strategy Team and its subcommittees and attempts to integrate its work with our Smart Energy Solutions and Safe and Healthy Communities Conservation Initiatives. Candidates for AWL must possess at least general knowledge of public lands, wildlife, habitat or lands and energy interface issues as well as project management skills. We especially seek applicants with expertise in conservation biology or public land energy interface issues. Familiarity with Sierra Club policies and processes at the national level are desired attributes. Candidates should have good management and social skills, as well as political and strategic judgment. Nominees must be current Sierra Club members residing in the United States. Sierra Club of Canada (SCC) members are not eligible to apply to this announcement. Please contact [log in to unmask] for information on the criteria required for SCC members to be appointed as liaisons or members to CGC and its subentities. Ability and willingness to use electronic mail and to participate in conference calls (generally in the evening) are required as well as the ability to travel occasionally to meetings or conferences. Candidates need to consider their ability to contribute time and effort to AWL participation and project team management in addition to their ongoing commitments. If you are interested in applying, please read and follow the instructions completely. We are only accepting self-nominations, so, please, pass this announcement on to others you think may have an interest. Appointments to the AWL will be made by the CGC, based on applications and phone interviews with prospective candidates.
