TUESDAY, MAY 22: Weekly Evening Hike Walnut Woods 6:30 p.m.
This will be an easy loop, about 1 hour. Meet at the Walnut Woods State
Park boat ramp just inside the west entrance to the park. We will be near
some poison ivy, not in it. So,wear long pants if you are sensitive to
poison ivy. See the May 1 hike announcement for details, and contact

TUESDAY, MAY 29: Weekly Evening Hike Clive Greenbelt Trail 6:30 p.m.
Plan on meeting that night at the parking lot on 73rd Street in Windsor
Heights between B-Bops and Burger King. We will take the new section of
trail that goes south from there and heads towards Denman Woods. This is
not a woodland walk but we should see some woodland flowers and the trail
should not be wet in case of spring rain since it is paved there. See the

JUNE EVENTS
ALL MONTH: Invasive Species Attack Team
If you are interested in a hands-on habitat restoration activity with
immediate results you can see, then this is for you! The target this month
is removal of garlic mustard from woodland areas. Just contact Jo at
276-6359 or to sign up. She will notify you of opportunities throughout the
month for invasive species removal events, and you can come at the times
that work best for you. No prior experience needed.
TUESDAY, JUNE 5: Weekly Evening Hikes
We will hike the Woodland Mounds Preserve near Indianola. Meet at 6
p.m. at the parking lot near the Petco store on the northeast side of
Southridge Mall to carpool. We should be back by 9 p.m. Contact Jackie at

SATURDAY, JUNE 9: Day Hiking Trip
Hike the Sand Creek Wildlife Area near Grand River. Meet at 10 a.m. at
Valley West Mall at the southwest corner of the parking lot near the mall
sign which is at the corner of 35th Street and Westown Parkway in West Des
Moines. Bring water and lunch and wear clothing appropriate for the
weather. It will take about an hour and a half to get there. We should be
back between 5 and 6 p.m. at the latest depending on how many places we can

coming.
TUESDAY, JUNE 12: Weekly Evening Hike
Polk City Bridges Hike. Meet at 6:30 p.m. at Casey's on the south side
of Polk City just east of the Mile Long Bridge at Saylorville Lake. We
will travel to the entrance of Big Creek Park where there is a parking lot.
From there we will get on the bike trail where there are 5 wooden bridges
running along Big Creek/Saylorville Lake. The trail is paved and mostly
wooded. Contact Jackie at [log in to unmask] to let her know you're
coming.
TUESDAY, JUNE 19: Weekly Evening Hike
Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt. Meet at 6 p.m. at Casey's in the old part
of Bondurant. The address is 302 N.E 2nd St.. There are two Casey's in
Bondurant but this is the old one in the heart of Bondurant. We will go to
the camping areas and hike some of the trails around Chichaqua. This will
not be on the Chichaqua Bike Trail but is a little more off the beaten
track. We should be back to Bondurant around 9 p.m. Contact Jackie at
