EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR QUESTIONNAIRES FOR MEMBERS SEEKING NOMINATION TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION BALLOT, 2008
The Nominating Committee, after considerable deliberation, has decided to extend the deadline to submit questionnaires for those seeking nomination to the Board of Directors 2008 ballot. The deadline has now been extended to Monday, August 13, 2007.
The primary method of communicating the Call for Nominations has been the Club?s activist?s lists, personal contact by members of the Nominating Committee, and requests urging leaders of the Club to circulate the Call as widely as possible. As Club members receive more and more messages in these ways, the actual number of people who read them has apparently decreased. When coupled with the increased demand on Club leaders? personal and professional time, our recent Call for Nominations has not yielded the response we anticipated. In order to allow the greatest number of interested candidates the ability to seek nomination, the Nominating Committee has agreed to extend the deadline.
COMPLETED QUESTIONNAIRES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL MONDAY, AUGUST 13, 2007. ALL QUESTIONNAIRES SHOULD BE SENT to Jeri Andrews (Email: [log in to unmask])
The candidate questionnaire is available on the Clubhouse section of the Sierra Club website (http://clubhouse.sierraclub.org/go/committees/bod/candidate_questionnaire.doc) or you may contact any member of the Nominating Committee for a copy of the candidate questionnaire.
The Board of Directors, comprised of 15 elected volunteers, has the legal responsibility and authority to oversee all staff and volunteer activities of the Sierra Club, to establish the Club?s conservation priorities, and internal policies, and to develop and implement a multi-million dollar budget. The Sierra Club?s current budget is over $70 million and includes a staff of over 300.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, effective leader who has a proven capacity to work with a diverse group of members, organizations and communities to resolve problems and achieve goals. All candidates are required to have been Sierra Club members continuously for one year prior to the close of nominations on January 9, 2008.
The Nominating Committee seeks members interested in serving as a Director who are:
dedicated to the purposes and goals of the Sierra Club
