DNR LIFTS BOIL ORDER FOR ELLIOTT

MEDIA CONTACT: Matt Rhodes at (712) 243-1934.

ELLIOTT – The DNR lifted the boil water order for the City of Elliott
in Montgomery County at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday.

The order to boil drinking water was lifted after laboratory test
results confirmed that bacteria had not been detected in water samples
that were submitted on Monday.

“The water is safe to drink,” said Matt Rhodes, an environmental
specialist with the Atlantic DNR field office.

The DNR is requiring the city to collect five samples during September.

The boil order has been in effect since Aug. 23 when sewage and water
pipes were ruptured in the same trenches at two different locations.
