Forwarded by Jane Clark On May 23, 2007, Governor Culver signed the Power Fund Policy Bill (HF 918) into law, establishing the Office of Energy Independence. The Office of the Energy Independence will, among other things: 1) Coordinate administration of the Iowa Power Fund; 2) Coordinate existing state and federal energy policy programs; 3) Pursue new research investment funds from public and private sources; 4) Establish renewable energy performance measures; and 5) Develop an Iowa Energy Independence Plan. The Department of Natural Resources' Hiring Team is assisting Roya Stanley, Director of the Office of Energy Independence, in filling three positions. Design, develop and administer contracts to facilitate research and report on the environmental and economic impacts of various strategic options for the state's energy plan and for the investments of the Iowa Power Fund. Responsible for assuring achievement of investment goals and the timely completion of both research and commercialization activities under the power fund. Serve as the key project and policy advisor to the administration and Director. Responsible for the completion of project goals and objectives and submission of reports as required by state law. Responsible for the overall financial administration of $100 million in state investment for the Iowa Power Fund. Implement Power Fund Board direction for major budget expenditures, including contracts. .Direct outside purchase of services for OEI as needed.
