FAIRFIELD – The City of Fairfield bypassed more than 877,000 gallons of wastewater after receiving 2.75 inches of rain Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The bypasses occurred from about 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Wastewater overflowed again from midnight to 3:30 a.m. Thursday. Discharges flowed into Crow and Cedar Creeks. The discharges occurred at eight or more sites, including a manhole in Jefferson County Park. City crews cleaned up Thursday and limed areas where wastewater had overflowed.
