Francis: Thanks for posting this press release. I attended all but the middle twenty minutes of the meeting yesterday, and have a hard copy of the spreadsheet showing the research plan, but did not have the press release. Yes, the committee did recommend this plan for funding. It is not very likely that the funding can be available this year, as they are already in the ‘red’ in their budget before they even get started, to the tune of hundreds of millions, so new money will be extremely difficult to allocate. Rep. Mark Kuhn is, of course, the Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee that would have to find funding for this in actuality. But the good news is that there were the votes in the Interim Study Committee to recommend anything, including one GOP House member, Rep. May, when they voted a motion, that if I understood it fully, is to require any new permit applications to participate in the ISU Air Modelling and include the report with their applications. It is interesting to speculate what that might do if a facility application to a county included a negative air modelling report! I hope to get a copy of the actual motion soon, as it was not a hard copy at the meeting, to the rest of us in the room anyway.
