A letter I wrote about the destruction of CAFOs to rural Iowa is included in the Letters to a Young Iowan book – maybe there are some Christmas possibilities here?  Thanks, Donna

Hello, I wanted to pass on the end of the year news from the Ice Cube Press. There were three new books I think many of you, as friends and contributors to the efforts of the press would like to know about as the year winds up.

This year's big ICP book was *Letters To A Young Iowan* with over 100 well-known Iowans sharing their common-sense advice for present and future Iowans. With such a diverse collection of Iowa voices (musicians, artists, authors, governors, farmers ...) this book is a great gift for both younger and older Iowans (it has been of interest to those outside of Iowa as well). More than one person has told me they have included a handwritten letter of their own inside the book as a gift. At $19.95 this is an affordable and educational (not to mention local as are all ICP items) gift.(Editor Zachary M Jack)

Secondly, we published a collection of new essays entitled *The Grace of Grass and Water: Writing In Honor of Paul Gruchow* ($16.95) Paul was a talented and well-published environmentalist from Minnesota whose life ended prematurely at age 56. Contributors include popular author Mary Pipher (Reviving Ophelia), as well as Carol Bly, Bill Holm, Jim Heynen, Bob Artley and others. (Editor, Thomas Dean)

Thirdly, we published *Tough Little Beauties* ($16.95) The collected essays of long-time environmentalist and social activist, and Utne Reader Visionary Stephanie Mills of lower Northwest Michigan. It was an honor to have Ms. Mills let us publish this book.

You can check out reviews, events and additional publications of the Ice Cube Press at www.icecubepress.com. Although we don't take credit cards, you can email your mailing address and we'll send you an invoice. Additionally, order two or more books, we'll provide you a 10% discount, 5 or more books a 15% discount.

Thanks, we're planning great things in 2008 as we go into our 15th year!

All the best! Steve Semken
