Fred Thompson, acknowledge that global warming ishappening. Each responded to the question, "Is the global warming threatoverblown?" Only Sen. Fred Thompson and Gov. Mike Huckabee express anydoubts about the overwhelming scientific consensus that global warming isreal, is happening, and is a result of human activity. The Sierra Club is continuing its ongoing global warming education projectsin New Hampshire and Iowa as those states prepare to make critical choicesin their first-in-the-nation contests. As part of these efforts, theSierra Club is distributing "Clean Energy Future" checklists in these twoearly states. "The leading Democratic contenders have gone a step further and proposedbold, visionary and highly-detailed proposals to combat global warming andput us on the road to energy independence. "Among Republicans, Sen. McCain has long been an important advocate on thisissue and Gov. Huckabee has also recently expressed his support for acap-and-trade approach to fighting global warming. "The key question is whether this concern about global warming translatesinto support for more of the same outdated, failed energy technologies ofthe past or whether addressing the challenge becomes an opportunity to moveus in a different direction by jumpstarting the new clean energy economy. We are distributing Clean Energy Future checklists in both Iowa and NewHampshire so that regardless of their party, citizens can check where thecandidates stand on the policies necessary to bring America’s new energyfuture to life." # # # - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp
