Suggestions for Nominating Committee for 2009 Board Election Sought
Four two-year appointments are open on the Nominating Committee, which will
be proposing candidates for the 2009 Board Election. The appointments are
made by the President and confirmed by the Executive Committee. The open
positions need to be filled by March 2008.
NomCom members must be:
(1) Committed to increasing ethnic diversity and youth.
(2) Willing to handle a significant work load (particularly during the
months from June – Nov.) and be able to follow-through on their commitments
–- much of the work is delegated amongst committee members;
(3) Able to work with a high level of confidentiality and engender trust
within the committee –- due to the sensitive nature of evaluating
candidates this quality is of utmost importance;
(4) Willing to travel for three face-to-face meetings (one in the spring,
two in the fall), and to participate in a number of conference calls;
(5) Knowledgeable about the workings of the Club and well-connected to
activists at all levels of the Club; and
None can be a Board candidate. Continuing NomCom members are Jeri Andrews,
Katherine Pendleton, and Donald Parks.
