Thanks for all the hard work, Lyle.

Silly me, I thought when we worked so hard to elect a Democratic Governor,
Democratically-led House and Democratically-led Senate that we would at
least be able to have a discussion on the environmental issues in the
Democratic State Platform. NOT.

It seems our Democratic leadership is more inclined to push the CAFO
industry's agenda than that of the majority of the Democratic Caucus. House
Speaker Pat Murphy. Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal. We need to hold
the leaders accountable for their behavior as well as staying in constant
communication with our own legislators.

We have a voting record now. Hold the politicians accountable. Elections
are this fall. If only the issue would go away, but we'll have hundreds
more new CAFOs by next legislative session...

Subject: Odor Bill passes Senate

Sierrans:

The Odor Control Bill, HF 2688, passed the Senate 29 to 17 with 4 absent a
short while ago. It had at least two amendments adopted, the Cost Share
Amendment by Sen. Kibbie and the Sen. Quiirmbach amendment opening up the
secrecy a bit....albeit none of us in the lobby have actually gotten to read
it yet. It now goes back to the House as amended.

Our health effects amendment, offered by Sen. Bolkcom, was defeated on a
voice vote, probably about the same proportions. If only we could get
hundreds or thousands of contacts to legislators.......c'est la vie.

One of the great ironies of my life......I grew up in a very small farming
community, worked hard not to have to be closely associated with farming, so
now I spend half my professional life talking about hogsh...

I am going home to bed.
