Iowa DNR News Environmental Services Division For immediate release Sept. 17, 2008 WASTEWATER RELEASE IN KEOKUK ON TUESDAY MEDIA CONTACT: Russell Royce or Mark Heiderscheit at (319) 653-2135 KEOKUK – About 1,000 gallons of untreated wastewater ran into a Keokuk storm sewer and then to the Mississippi River Tuesday. The release was caused by an electrical problem in one of the pumps at the Roquette America plant. Plant workers quickly switched to another pump and stopped the release within 15 minutes.
