Dear Sierra Club member,
I'd like to inform you of the November 1 Sierra Club fundraiser "Sock-athon" which will take place on line at http://www.sierraclubsocks.com.
The goal of this event is to raise one million dollars for the Sierra Club through the sale of Sierra Club earth-friendly socks. For every pair of socks purchased, the Sierra Club receives ten percent of the proceeds and one pair will also be donated to the National Coalition for the Homeless.
Reaching Out. We need your help in letting others know about the sock-athon.
We are trying to reach out to everyone that is part of the Sierra Club family in order to achieve the greatest success possible on November 1.
Working with Sierra Club. The sock-athon organizer, Devmir, Inc. has been working with Johanna O'Kelley at the Sierra Club home office and we are very pleased to have been selected as a licensee and partner. Devmir is also the manufacturer which means strict product quality control. All the socks are knit using organic cotton, bamboo or recycled yarns.
Your Newsletter. If your chapter's newsletter has been issued for this month, I hope that you can send a message to your group and perhaps include information about the Sock-athon in the following newsletter. It is our hope that we can make this an annual fundraising event that benefits the Sierra Club and also allows us to provide socks to the homeless before winter sets in.

Fun Sock Promoting Video. On a lighter note, some of the Sock-athon volunteers got together to create a short entertaining video that would help raise awareness of the importance of wearing earth-friendly socks. You can view "The Sockfather Part 1."
Facebook. We have also created a Friends of Sierra Club socks group on Facebook, so that folks can participate in helping to spread the word about this to their friends. You are also invited to join us there.
