Today Al Gore and Andrew Cuomo joined together to announce that the company
proposing more coal-fired power plants than any other company in the country -
Dynegy - will fully disclose its climate risk in its next annual filing before
the SEC. This is a great victory due in no small part to your consistent
efforts to make sure the rest of the country knows just how bad Dynegy's plans
are for your communities, the economy, and the environment.
http://www.oag.state.ny.us/media_center/2008/oct/oct23a_08.htmlFrom
Reuters - "The Houston-based company, which owns power plants in 13 states, is
one of the United States' largest consumers of coal, the fuel that is the main
target of environmental groups.
Coal-fired
power plants are among the top emitters of carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas
that is blamed for contributing to global warming."
From Houston
Chronicle - "The energy company, branded the "king" of coal-fired power plants
by the National Environmental Trust, recently announced plans to build new units
in at least six states in a joint venture with LS Power Group of East Brunswick,
N.J."
Congratulations!
Also, our next national call will be
Tuesday, November 11th at the usual time (8 PM CDT). From there we may be
changing our communication plans in regard to the Dynegy campaign - so be sure
not to miss it.
