Iowa Department of Natural Resources Environmental Services Division For Immediate Release December 16, 2008 PRIVATE SEWER LINE LEAKING IN DAVENPORT; DISCHARGE REACHING RIVER MEDIA CONTACT: Rodney Tucker at (515) 725-0387 or [log in to unmask] DAVENPORT — A cracked private sewer line in Davenport is leaking sewage to the Mississippi River on Tuesday. Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, employees at Kahl Home for the Aged discovered a sewer line leaking untreated sewage into the street, which flows into a catch basin and then to the river. It is unknown how much wastewater has reached the river. As the sewer line is not connected to the city’s main sewer system, Kahl Home has hired a plumber to repair the line and stop the discharge. -30- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp Sign up to receive Sierra Club Insider, the flagship e-newsletter.
