Hello,
Like most of you, I am not in favor of this sport. We all know what the negatives are. However, without endorsing the sport, we have to recognize that in some circumstances we might be better off engaging the OHV community with the goal of mitigating the worst of our concerns, rather than just opposing "on principle". I don't know enough of the details to judge which category this project falls into. We probably need to study this to see if there is an opportunity to engage constructively with Dennis Van Arkel and Dan Kleen.
Does Sierra Club have an "official policy" specific to OHV's?

I just learned about this forthcoming OHV park on the edge of Cambridge. I thought some others on this listserv might be interested also. It would be very close to the Heart of Iowa Nature Corridor and the Skunk River.

"Nothing is more humbling than to look with a strong magnifying glass at an insect so tiny that the naked eye sees only the barest speck and to discover that nevertheless it is sculpted and articulated and striped with the same care and imagination as a zebra. Apparently it does not occur to nature whether or not a creature is within our range of vision, and the suspicion arises that even the zebra was not designed for our benefit." (Rudolf Arnheim)
