Dear Friends,
Now more than ever it is important that you write the
Iowa DNR about the proposed antidegradation rules. If
this is the first time you are hearing about these water
quality protection rules and need more information, please go
to http://www.iaenvironment.org/Antidegradation1.htm.
But even if you have already sent in comments regarding
these rules, please take the time to write/email the DNR
again.
The important action TODAY is based on four things: 1.
Public comments to the Iowa DNR must be received by email or
regular mail, March 4. 2. A study bill has been introduced
in the Iowa Legislature that reveals exactly what the
opposition wants omitted from the Antidegradation Rules, in
order to weaken them. The Iowa Environmental Council and
others are working to kill the study bill and may be asking
you, at some later date, to call your legislators. In the
meantime... 3. You have the opportunity, until March 4, to
tell the DNR, in writing, you do not want those omissions.
4. Your letters will give the Iowa DNR and other advocates
the backing they need to fight for strong, protective rules,
regardless of any bad bill that may be introduced in the
coming weeks.
By clicking the "Take Action" button, you will be
directed to a draft letter, which you may edit and send to the
DNR. The correct email address and name are all provided for
you there.
Thank you for taking action! Your voice is so
important in protecting Iowa's water
quality! |
