From Lyle Krewson, Iowa Sierra Club lobbyist:

IMPORTANCE: HIGH & URGENT!

I believe the Antidegradation bill, SF 442, is again a 'live round'; Sen.
Gronstal says so! He says Senate Democrats intend to pass it.

Now I have a specific strategy to request of you.

My Goal: 50 calls, not emails, to 3 key Senators, by 1 pm today. I want you
to do exactly this....

The 3 Senators are:

Sen. Mike Gronstal, Senate Majority Leader, 515-281-3901.
Sen. Jack Kibbie, Senate President, 515-281-5933.
Sen. Roger Steward, Bill Floor Manager, 515-281-3371.

NO EMAILS. Call them now, those are their direct Senate numbers, you will
get a secretary or voicemail. If a voicemail, hang up and try again in a few
minutes. On that try you may leave a message, but I really want a secretary
to have to take the message. Clearly give them your name, your organization,
and your position in the organization, i.e., Sierra Club, Executive
Committee, etc., and where you are from.

Tell them this...

SF 442, the Antidegradation bill, is unnecessary. We want the DNR rules
process to continue, it is the culmination of over a year's work, and the
rules being drafted are good rules to protect Iowa's water quality.

Ask them to stop this bill now! Thank them for their attention.

***********************************************
Then I want you to make one more call, to...

Rep. Donovan Olson, Chair, House Environmental Protection Committee,
515-281-3221. He will get the bill when it comes to the House.

Leave the same message for him.
***********************************************

This is not a general 'Alert' to members, if you have already done that
great. This is more specifically targeted and strategic to now!

THANK YOU for following up with this important effort.
