The American Clean Energy and Security Act passed the House with 219 votes in favor (211 Ds, 8 Rs). Braley, Loebsack and Boswell voted yes, Latham and King voted no. Roll call here: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2009/roll477.xml Of the 44 Ds who voted no, I read that only 3 voted no because the bill was too weak (which it is): Kucinich, DeFazio, Stark. The other 41 Ds voted no because the bill was supposedly too strong, which is a sick joke. Some pros and cons here: http://www.bleedingheartland.com/diary/2846/this-post-should-have-been-an-action-alert The Senate will almost certainly make this bill worse, because it needs 60 votes to pass (budget reconciliation is not an option). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp Sign up to receive Sierra Club Insider, the flagship e-newsletter.
