FAIRBANKS -- A state agency and Golden Valley Electric Association said
today they’re advancing a plan to sell a 50-megawatt “clean coal” power
plant in Healy to a subsidiary of GVEA.
The pair have signed a new agreement similar to one announced this
winter. The new agreement excludes a third party, Homer Electric
Association. Golden Valley and the Alaska Industrial Development and
Export Authority said today that Homer Electric has “departed” from the
project.
“GVEA appreciates AIDEA's efforts to keep this transaction on track,”
Golden Valley President Brian Newton said in a news release. “What makes
owning (the plant) such good news is that it helps us kick our oil
habit.”
