Guardian columnist George Monbiot was a guest this week on NPR's On the Me=
dia.=C2=A0=20

His interview on OTM, and his recent column, "Death Denial,"=20

are worthy of consideration -- and grave concern.

Monbiot's lead paragraph:
There is no point in denying it: we=E2=80=99re losing. Climate change deni=
al is spreading like a contagious disease. It exists in a sphere which can=
not be reached by evidence or reasoned argument; any attempt to draw atten=
tion to scientific findings is greeted with furious invective. This sphere=
 is expanding with astonishing speed.=20
It brings to my mind Sandra Postel's essay in State of the World 1992, "De=
nial in the Decisive Decade."=C2=A0=20
