Guardian columnist George Monbiot was a guest this week on NPR's On the Media.His interview on OTM, and his recent column, "Death Denial,"are worthy of consideration -- and grave concern.Monbiot's lead paragraph:There is no point in denying it: we’re losing. Climate change denial is spreading like a contagious disease. It exists in a sphere which cannot be reached by evidence or reasoned argument; any attempt to draw attention to scientific findings is greeted with furious invective. This sphere is expanding with astonishing speed.It brings to my mind Sandra Postel's essay in State of the World 1992, "Denial in the Decisive Decade."http://www.worldwatch.org/node/1031
Her "decisive decade" has passed, and we're still denying the danger.
