I think it would be a mistake to eliminate the State Preserves Board and give those duties to the NRC as is recommended in this report.  That is something former director Larry Wilson suggested about 20 years ago.

LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION CONSIDERS STATE GOVERNMENT REORGANIZATION.
 
Today, the interim State Government Reorganization Commission met in Des Moines to finalize its recommendations. The proposed recommendations of the commission are now posted on the Legislature's Web site and can be found at www.legis.state.ia.us/lsadocs/IntComHand/2010/IHTCM017.PDF.
