Natural resource research and management seminar to highlight bobcats in Iowa

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- "Return of the Carnivores: What We Can Learn From Studies of Population and Landscape Ecology of Bobcats in Iowa" is the title of a lecture to be given by Iowa State University professor William Clark at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Tallgrass Prarie Center on West 27th Street in Cedar Falls, as part of a series of seminars on natural resource research and management.

Clark will discuss his research on the population and landscape ecology of bobcats in Iowa. He will present estimates of population rates, concentrating on local and regional population structure as well as rates of dispersal. Clark also will provide some insight into the mechanisms that might limit or enable colonization by carnivores in the modern landscape.

This seminar series is sponsored by the Tallgrass Prairie Center. For more information, contact Ryan Welch, outreach coordinator for the Tallgrass Prairie Center, at (319) 273-3828, or [log in to unmask]
