Forwarded newsletter from Senator
Hogg with information about the annual dinner of the Cedar-Wapsie Group of
Sierra Club in Cedar Rapids area this weekend.
Dear Friends:
With the end of the legislative
session rapidly approaching, I wanted to let you know about two upcoming
events.
First, on Saturday, March 20, the
League of Women Voters, the American Association of University Women, and other
co-sponsors will be hosting a legislative forum at Mercy Medical Center, 701
10th Street SE, in Cedar Rapids, beginning at 10:30 a.m. This is a
great opportunity to ask questions and visit personally with the
entire Linn County legislative delegation.
Second, also on March 20, the
local Sierra Club is hosting its annual dinner at Clark Alumni House at Coe
College beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and with dinner at 6:30
p.m. The speaker for the dinner will be Dr. Kamyar Enshayan, professor of
environmental studies at the University of Northern Iowa, director of the Center
for Energy and Environmental Education, and a member of the Cedar Falls City
Council. His talk is entitled, "A New Vision for the Cedar River
Watershed." Tickets are $30. For more information, or to buy
tickets, please call Mike Wyrick at 393-8948. Kamyar is working with me to
organize a Cedar River Watershed Coalition and is an inspiring public
speaker. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the growing
regional effort for better watershed management to improve water
quality and reduce future flood damage.
I hope you can join me at one or
both of these events. As always, if you have issues of concern, especially
on issues still pending in the Legislature, please feel free to contact me at
the email or phone number listed below.
