A number of Iowans take the Omaha World Herald, especially those living in
western Iowa. That would be a good place to write letters and deliver press
releases.

Wally it's difficult to get a letter published in local papers about King's
energy policies. I sat between two reporters at a town hall meeting in
Creston, made points against his coal, drilling pie charts backed up with
facts, and actually got him so angry he lost his cool and apologized to me. Not
one word I said was printed by these reports--only his pro coal, drilling
remarks--his picture and his remarks & pie charts were on the front page of
the Osceola Sentinel and my letters were not published. By the way--some
"Kill Obama" shouts were heard at this meeting! Not a word about that. I know
of only one other Sierran in his district who worked morning, noon and
night to call and door bell for Hubler. I found an activist in Decatur Co and
got some Democrats in Lamoni to call and we called everyone in Decatur Co--it
took weeks calling every night. Pat Fuller and I even called together in
Council Bluffs. I can't tell you how we felt, after hours and hours of
calls, etc. we learned that King won by 60%. Phyllis PS we are being harassed
by anti abortion calls and Reagan tax cuts.

Andrew for making the point I have been trying to make for awhile. We can
lobby; we can make comments to state agencies; we can do all of the things we
usually do. But until we change the culture in which people agree with
someone like Steve King, we will not be successful. We need to educate the
public.
