Although local
officials have not detected any free product or vapor in city sewer systems,
residents near the station should call 911 if they smell gasoline in their
basements.
Gasoline was delivered
to the Kum N Go at 830 N. Street Monday night. An estimated 3,000 gallons of
gasoline have leaked from the tank.
An environmental
contractor is on site to check sewers for vapors and free products. They will
likely dig a recovery trench or sump pit to recover the gasoline.
The leak was reported
to the DNR early Wednesday afternoon. The DNR will continue to monitor the
situation.
