GOVERNOR'S ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERS HONORED 

DES MOINES - Eleven Iowa businesses and organizations were honored for their outstanding contributions to the environment in a ceremony June 28 at Honey Creek Resort State Park.


The Governor's Iowa Environmental Excellence Awards are the premier environmental honors in Iowa, recognizing leadership and innovation in the protection of Iowa's natural resources. 


The prestigious Environmental Excellence Award honors organizations with comprehensive environmental ethics and commitment, while special project awards recognize specific environmental improvements.

Environmental Excellence Award:

  d.. Iowa Pheasants Forever, statewide 

Special Recognition in Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy: 
  a.. Russell and Beth Winterhof, Aurelia agricultural operation 
Special Recognition in Waste Management: 
  a.. Polaris, Industries, Inc., Spirit Lake facility 
  b.. Brooks National Golf Club, Okoboji 

Special Recognition in Water Quality: 

  a.. Washington County Environmental Department, Washington 
  b.. Des Moines Water Works, Des Moines
