Our Loess Hills prairie rescue activity was cited in the University of Iowa annual report. Follow the link and check under the March tab for Year in Review.

The associate dean is interested in repeating the program in 2012.

Jim, Chad-

Last week President Mason released the University of Iowa’s 2010 Annual Report. This report highlights a select number of accomplishments and I am pleased that the Loess Hills course was among those honored. Here is the link: http://www.uiowa.edu/moment/ and you will find the listing under the March tab.

I also need to share some news that is not so good. There are some changes happening within Jeff’s department which have resulted in Jeff having an increased teaching load for spring semester. Unfortunately, those demands preclude Jeff from being able to teach the Loess Hills class next spring. Jeff feels bad about this, and I regret it as well. I did, however, spoke with Jeff this morning and he is very much interested in doing the course in spring 2012 so if that works on your end we will plan for that.

My best to you both,

Doug

"Jeffrey Dorale, an assistant professor of geoscience in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, took eight students on an “alternative spring break” trip in Pottawattamie County. The group participated in hands-on activities while camping at the Hitchcock Nature Center in the Loess Hills. The group worked primarily on several prairie management projects."
