Can he really convince one-quarter of Iowa that he is the best guy for the job? naI've seen several hypothetical maps of Iowa with four Congressional districts. All contain a western Iowa district that would be safe for King, two eastern Iowa districts that "should" be safe for Braley and Loebsack, and a Polk County-based swing district. I believe Latham will run in the new third district, and his chances of winning depend a lot on whether Dallas County is in the Polk County district or in King's new IA-04.
Here is one possible map (depending on the new census numbers, these districts may not be equal enough in population);

Three more possible maps are here:

Again, the final census numbers will determine whether any of those maps are viable.

O, c'mon, now, of course there are Dems west of I-35: marooned in a Red Sea on Ames Archipelago, Ft Dodge Island, Sioux City Reef, Council Bluffs Rock, and Emmetsburg Atoll. But isolated as they are in shark-infested waters, they can't stop Cap'n King and his paranoid pyrate crew.BW

"O, 'tis a consummation most devoutly to be wished..."But alack and alas, the Kingster will run in a newly drawn district which will, I suspect, include a big chunk of Boswell's present bailiwick. The rest of the 3rd will get lumped with much of Latham's 4th. IA House Republicans won't approve any redistricting plan that puts Latham and King in the same district. You can bet money on that.BWOn Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 4:27 PM, Glenn Pollock <[log in to unmask]> wrote:
