Tom, the good news is the new Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
Comprehensive Conservation Plan is expected soon, and we will get this
kind of information! I will be getting a copy as assured me by U.S. Fish
and Wildlife. The following notice I received 6-30-11/ Phyllis
The CCP (Comprehensive Conservation Plan) is the document that guides
long-term management of Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The public
review draft of the revised CCP and Draft Environmental Impact Statement
is expected soon. We will send you an email on the date of release.

Thank you for your continued interest in Arctic Refuge and the CCP
planning process.

Phyllis,

Could you compare and contrast this egg-gathering proposal with the
subsistence hunting of caribou that takes place in the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge. Is the caribou kill there limited to a certain number?
(I don't call it "harvesting"--that's manipulative misuse of language.)

Note: from Wikipedia we learn that the human population of the Refuge is
only about 400, in an area of about 19,000,000 acres.

Thanks,
Tom
