I was not involved in writing the news release about the dedelegation. Tarah Heinzen who used to be Sierra Club staff in Iowa but is now an attorney for Environmental Integrity Group it and I didn’t see it until yesterday when everyone else saw it. Tarah used the term “factory farms” when she was here and it’s also how Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement refers to CAFOs. I’ve checked with Michigan and they use the term “livestock factories” or simply CAFOs after identifying the acronym. I doubt if we can change messaging at EIP or ICCI, but can we agree to using “livestock factories” rather than “animal factories” to denote the difference between CAFOs and puppy mills? Donna, Apology NOT accepted. Messaging is a very important topic and we have been geting our @$$ handed to us for years by our opponents in this arena. We need to talk about framing more. Thanks for broaching the subject. Mike On Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 7:51 AM, Donna Buell <[log in to unmask]> wrote: OK, I give up. We now use "clean energy" because it tests better than"renewable energy". Is their research to back up this claim? I also grew up on a "family farm" and think that "factory farm" is a great phrase until I see research that says otherwise. > Thanks, > Mike > > - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp -- Mike Carberry 319-594-6453 [log in to unmask] Please consider the environment before printing this email. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To unsubscribe from the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask] Check out our Listserv Lists support site for more information: http://www.sierraclub.org/lists/faq.asp
