I don't often (ever) pat myself on the back or try to butter up anyone else -- but we at Sierra Club often focus on immense problems and issues, as we should -- but it gets downright depressing -- but…  Anyway, the Sierra Club BOD just received such a nice compliment that I felt it worthy to pass along.  We should all pat ourselves on the back.

PS:  the conference call lasted almost 2 1/2 hours yesterday evening

I got on last night’s call groaning from the weight of conference calls but my reaction after it was over was a very unexpected one for such a task – joy!

It was not many years ago that elements of the Board were really not very functional and the entire entity was subject to an alarming effort by outside interests to take it over and hijack the organization.  Many folks on the call last night were among those who worked tirelessly to prevent that occurrence.

After all that work to sit and listen to people with diverse perspectives genuinely grappling in a high quality way with the role and health of a vital organization was a real pleasure.

This isn’t a newbie trying to butter you up and I certainly, as one always does, had some differences with this and that but I was really gratified by the quality of the discussion and the evident dedication to the work of our organization.

I told my wife y’all made me happy and she said I should say so J .

            Thanks,
            Clayton
