to 18 month delay. While this isn't an outright rejection, it is a win =

project are properly evaluated, it will be the end for the Keystone XL =
pipeline.  Conventional wisdom just a few short months ago said that =
this pipeline was a done deal.   =20

   Continuing to invest enormous sums of money in infrastructure that =
will keep us committed to outdated forms of energy and technology is not =
a smart strategy to move us to a new energy future: one that doesn't =
cause public health problems, frees us from oil from countries that are =
a security problem for the US and thus handcuffing our foreign policy =
and sending hundreds of billions of dollars overseas that could be =
invested here instead (I know some of you will say that this is what the =
pipeline is designed to do but, doubling down on oil will only keep us =
addicted to it and we can NEVER produce enough domestically to become =
independent from imports), protects our fragile and diminishing =
ecosystems and dramatically reduces our production of CO2. =20

reevaluating the environmental review of the Keystone XL tar sands =

rerouting the pipeline to avoid sensitive ecological areas in Nebraska. =
An alternative route would require a new environmental impact statement =
and would delay a final decision on the tar sands pipeline for as long =
as 18 months.
