Request for Information for Iowa Watershed Projects
IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering and the Iowa Flood Center (IFC) at the University of Iowa are soliciting letters of interest from agencies and communities interested in partnering on a five-year watershed project aimed at reducing the adverse impacts of flooding.
Selected watersheds will partner with IIHR and the IFC to plan, implement and evaluate watershed projects that address the following project goals:
- maximize soil water holding capacity from precipitation,
- minimize severe scour erosion and sand deposition during floods,
- manage water runoff in uplands under saturated soil moisture conditions, and
- reduce and mitigate structural and nonstructural flood damage.
